Firearms can be purchased and shipped by mail, subject to the following:

If a firearm purchaser does not have a Federal Firearms License, federal law requires that the firearm be shipped to a local FFL dealer, who can then transfer the firearm to the purchaser.

Before the firearm can be shipped from the seller, the seller must receive an ORIGINAL (not faxed) INK-SIGNED copy of the receiving dealer’s FFL. After the selling dealer receives the FFL copy, the selling dealer can then ship the purchased firearm to the receiving FFL dealer. The purchaser can then receive the firearm after completing the yellow Federal form 4473, along with any other paperwork required by law.

Firearms Transfers


The Academy for Firearms Training is a Federal Firearms Licensed
(FFL) dealer and can therefore assist you in transferring legally purchased firearms shipped by mail, for you to pick up at the
Academy.  The fees for this service, including all paperwork, are:

$30 for a holder of a Texas Concealed Handgun License (CHL) or

$35 for purchasers who do not hold a current Texas CHL
